RISAA Ag. MD Frowns On Mounting Of Illegal Billboard

The acting Managing Director of the Rivers State Signage and Advertisement Agency (RISAA), Hon. Tony Okeah has frowned at the activities of an organization called Kebim International Trading Company whom he alleged secretly procured a permit from the office of the DIG in Abuja.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, (yesterday) he stated that the said company procured an unauthorized permit to erect a billboard in the premises of the Nigeria Police Divisional Headquarters at Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt.

The RISAA MD described the act as an aberration, saying it is only RISAA that has the authority to give the permit and not the police force. He said instead of the police to protect the law, they are the ones supporting illegal practice.

His words: “It is funny enough to know that the police that is meant to protect the law is the one supporting illegal practice. We have written to the Inspector General of Police, confirming the claimed letter of authority that has mandated the so-called company to have the impetus of entering into this premises with police security to secretly erect a billboard structure in the police station.

The RISAA boss stressed that the agency would come hard on perpetrators, and that warrant of arrest had been issued to the company in question which will also lead to their prosecution.

He disclosed that it is even unsafe to erect such billboard near electrical installations, which he claimed is dangerous to the public.

He used the medium to issue a warning to those who are known to fragrantly violate RISAA rules and regulations, stressing that RISAA would not tolerate anyone that would go against its rules.

The RISAA boss reiterated that it is only RISAA that has the authority to grant permit for people to practice advertisement and signage in Rivers State.
