Umuohali Royal Kindred Endorses Eze Chamberlain
The Umuohali Royal Kindred of Ogbaland, a group saddled with the duty of selecting the king or Eze Ohali in the area, has unanimously endorsed HRH, Eze (Dr.) Chamberlain Igwe to continue as the king in line with the judgment delivered in the High Court of Rivers State, in the Omoku Judicial Division Holden in Port-Harcourt before His Lordship, Hon. Justice Sobere Biambo recently.
According to the group , the decision was reached at the Obidi Town Hall, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, last Sunday, with all the major decision makers and prominent members of the Umuohali Royal Kindred in attendance.
Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary General of the group, Mr. Peter Josiah, read the judgment to the gathering. The conclusion of it was that the case challenging the position of Eze Chamberlain Igwe as the Eze Ohali III of Ogbaland by Eze Chima Nwajari, Prince Maduka Nwajari and others was struck out. The group quoted the suit number OHC/28/2015 and it was consolidated with OHC/74/2013 it lasted from 2013 to November, 2020.
Speaking on the issue, the Secretary General said the meeting had not held for six years now due to the insecurity in the area and stated that Eze Chamberlain was free to continue as the Eze Ohali even though the other group is planning to appeal the judgment. He assured that Umuohali is behind Eze Chamberlain and urged the Rivers State Government to accord him the needed recognition.
Chief Newton C. Okoro, the President General of the group since 2009, spoke in similar vein and posited that the house was meeting to take vital decisions so they could move forward.
Another attendee, Chief Ebere Allen Omodi, the Eze Igbazu in the Eze Ohali palace, said the meeting was to urge Eze Chamberlain Igwe to go on since the courts had paved the way for that and urged the government to recognize him as the stool has been vacant for too long and even promote him to First Class as the stool is the first and oldest in Ogbaland. He also urged all and sundry to shun violence and rally round him in his quest to take them to the Promised Land.
HRH, Eze Onyige Goodluck Abel, the Eze Ali of Ohali Elu/ traditional paramount ruler, said the same thing and advised Eze Chamberlain to forgive the past and carry everyone along since he is the one the people and companies know and called on the amiable governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Wike, who is also a lawyer, to give him the long overdue recognition especially as the 17/18 communities have endorsed his certificate and thanked all and the judiciary for doing the right thing.
HRH, Eze Anthony Nnam Igwe, the Eze Ezikokwu (the chief that speaks the truth) of Ogbaland also spoke in similar vein.
