Rivers 10th Assembly Expresses Confidence In Commissioners’ Ability On Service Delivery
The Rivers State House of Assembly has expressed confidence in the ability of the five commissioner nominees recently screened and ratified to assist the Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara in ensuring improved governance in the state.
The Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule who dropped the hint at the end of the screening exercise stated that the 10th Assembly is confident of what they can do as members of the State Executive Council.
During the screening exercise majority of the lawmakers who spoke including Granville Tekena Wellington of Asari- toru constituency 1, Sylvanus Nwankwo of Omuma constituency and Nwabochi Franklin Uchenna of ONELGA constituency 1 among others said the nominees possessed all required criteria for the job.
They pointed out that as members of the past administration, there are documentary evidence of their activities in their course of serving the State.
Those screened and confirmed were Engr, Chukwuemeka Woke, Barr. (Mrs.) Inime Aguma, Mr. Nwafor Uchechukwu, Dr, Kenneth Chisom Gbali and Professor Henry Ogiri.
Professor Henry Ogiri who was aa member of the 5th and 6th Assembly was asked to take a bow and exit the hallowed chambers with an advise to ensure he puts in his best in the service of the State.
Other nominees were also asked to exit the hallowed chambers based on their respective performances in serving the state over the years.
Meanwhile the House has has elected the former Deputy Speaker, Ehie Edison as the Leader of the 10th Assembly and Linda Somiari Stewart of Okrika constituency as Deputy Leader.
The House also elected Major Jack of Akuku-Toru constituency 1 as the Chief whip and Ofiks Kagbang Christopher of Andoni constituency as Deputy whip while adopting the standing order of the 9th Assembly as the standing order for the 10th Assembly.
