Woman Demands Justice Over Arrest Of Husband
A woman has demanded justice over the arrest of her husband and also asked for prosecution of those who had arrested him.
The petitioner, Mrs Nnamdi Ginikachukwu Jacinta, who was cross-examined at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry said her husband was arrested by police, adding she did not know why he was arrested.
The petitioner who later spoke with newsmen said that her husband was arrested on October 30, 2019 as he went to buy drugs saying she has not seen him since.
She said he was arrested in Owerri by police from Port-Harcourt.
The petitioner said she went to anti-kidnapping unit in Owerri but was told he was not there and asked to go to Port-Harcourt.
Mrs Ginikachukwu Jacinta said when she got to Port-Harcourt she was directed to go to Abuja and asked to come back to Port-Harcourt.
She said she contacted the officer in charge of the case in Port-Harcourt and he had said he would get back to her.
The petitioner said that the officer did not reach out to her and would not take her calls and when he did shouted at her.
She also said that she went to Borikiri Police Station and was warned off.
The petitioner also said she went to Uyo to see the officer in charge of the case but he was dilly-dallying.
She told newsmen that her husband was arrested on allegation of armed robbery and kidnapping saying that the policeman in charge of the case said nothing about his whereabouts.
She said she wants justice and also wants to see her husband.
Mrs Ginikachukwu Jacinta said: “I want justice and I want to see him (her husband) and I want all the police involved in this case to be prosecuted”.
She said before his arrest her husband had had no case with the police saying that she wants justice.
She also said that her husband was taken to Uyo after he was arrested saying he had called after three months to say he was in Uyo with police attached to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit.
At the inaugural sitting the Chairman of the commission, Honourable Justice C.I. Uriri (retd), assured that the commission would look closely into the petitions brought before it and make recommendations accordingly.
He had banned those carrying arms into the commission venue.
