Alleged Abduction of Teenage Girl: Accused IAUE Staff Moved To SCID
Mr. Mgbechi Wekwe, a security personnel in security department of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education accused of abducting and defiling a 16- year-old girl has been transferred from Aluu Divisional Police headquarters to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Port Harcourt, for comprehensive investigation, our reporter gathered. The suspect was arrested by OSPAC, a local vigilante in Aluu community in Ikwerre local Government Area of Rivers State last Thursday as he was coming back from work.
Confirming the arrest, Mrs Kindness Edwin,mother of the sixteen year old alleged defilement survivor explained that based on credible intelligence the suspect was arrested by OSPAC close to her daughter’s work place in Aluu on Thursday.
She said the suspect was coming back from his work place when he was arrested. We gathered that the suspect was handed over to Inspector General of Police, monitoring unit that inturn handed him over to Aluu Divisions Police headquarters where the matter was reported.
Mrs Edwin called on the Police to ensure justice on the matter.
Narrating her ordeal, Mrs Kindness Edwin the mother of the 16 year old alleged female rape survivor accused Mr Wekwe of abducting and defiling her daughter over her (mother’s) refusal to marry the 60 year old security man.
In an interview with our correspondent, Mrs Edwin Kindness who is a widow said Mr Wekwe asked her hand in marriage but when she saw that she was no longer comfortable with his character she opted out of the marriage deal.
Mrs Edwin alleged that the man threatened to kill her for opting out of the marriage deal and accused her daughter of been the reason she opted out of the marriage deal.
Mrs Edwin alleged that on January Wednesday 13,2021 Mr Wekwe with some boys abducted her daughter at gunpoint in front of her work place at Aluu, Ikwerre local Government area at about 6:00pm and took her to Rumuakunde, in Emohua LGA where she was defiled and she only saw her daughter on Friday 15th January 2021,two days after the incident.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni who confirmed the arrest said investigation was ongoing.
