Rumuobasiolu, Aleruchi, Asobiruenwu Community Residents Brainstorm On Security

…Warn Defaulters Of Security Levy

In an attempt to ensure discipline orderliness, participation and above all security of lives and property, the security and welfare committee of Rumuobasiolu, Chief Aleruchi /Asobruenwu community has swung into action through an emergency meeting comprising landlords and residents to deliberate on danger occasioned by lack of interest in paying security levy by some residents with a warnings to jettison the security network of the area if the aforementioned concern are left unchecked.

In a well attended meeting presided over by the Chairman of the Welfare and Security committee, Mr. Apollos Poroma, the committee observed with dismay poor response of some residents towards the payment of security levy which had in turn led to inability to meet up the demands of the security guards in the area, in addition to causing low moral among the security guards.

While considering strategies to ensure general participation in the security levy, few residents contended that the development will not augur well for the smooth running of the security network in the affected areas. One of them, Pastor Andrew Ibe who expressed his disappointment that after enjoying the good job being done by the security guards in the area which had improved security generally as against when there were reported cases of hand set theft, rape and burglary in the community, nobody should take security for granted. As a way forward, Pst.  Andrew suggested inclusion of resident landlords, caretakers and anyone so appointed in a household to Join the committee in securing the cooperation of the tenants to pay their security levies up to date.

Another resident, Chibuike Patrick suggested sanctions for non compliance with the monthly N500 levy, especially by some persons who had skipped paying for security long ago, apart from those who have refused to pay. He advised that serious disciplinarian actions including seizure of valuable property will compel many to pay their dues.
