Heightened Tension Allegedly Claims 3 In Emohua, 5 Reportedly Missing After Gunmen Attack
There is palpable tension in Ibaa community, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State following reports of killing of three persons by unknown gunmen alleged to be members of disbanded OSPAC, local vigilante last Saturday.
Report say five persons are missing after the attack.
One of the victims of the attack, a brother to thirty-year-old Mr Chinedu Welekwa, who is reportedly feared killed told our reporter that the deceased is among the casualties.
The man who pleaded anonymity disclosed that body of his deceased brother was reportedly taken away by the assailants.
Another report from Community sources say other persons feared killed included one Henry Madume, Diamond Wojile, Akubueze Chukwu and Akemi, alias ‘Aboki’.
They claimed that the rampaging gunmen took away the bodies of all their victims.
A Youth of the community who preferred to remain anonymous has accused members of disbanded the OSPAC in the community of being behind the killing, but Mr. Aleruchi Livingstone, Secretary of the disbanded OSPAC denied the allegation.
Mr. Livingstone explained that the body (OSPAC) has not been operating since the executive Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area suspended its activities in the LGA.
Some natives fear that reprisal is imminent and called on the State Government and security agencies to come to the aide of the community in order to ensure a lasting peace.
It would be recalled that members of OSPAC at Obele in Emohua LGA were accused of Killing a repentant cultist, Prince Chika Nedd, a native of Ibaa at Obele community last year December, which has been generating unease in the community.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, SP Nnamdi Omoni was yet to respond to enquiries on the matter as at the time of filing this report.
