RSG Task Force Goes Tough On Members

Information reaching National Network says the Rivers State Task Force on Illegal Markets, Street Trading and Motor Parks has shown determination to deal with  erring members who collect bribe in the course of the work.

It was learnt the State Coordinator of the Task Force, DSP Felix Nwadibeyi, (retd), recently dealt with some members of the Task Force caught offending commercial drivers who allegedly also collected bribe of twenty thousand naira (N20,000).

Our medium gathered that the coordinator of the task force promptly dismissed those caught obstructing traffic who also collected bribe money.

The culprits, we gathered, were also handed over to police.

It was learnt that the coordinator of the task force gave out his mobile number and urged members of the public to call him anytime there was wrongdoing by members of the force. He also urged members of the public to note vehicle numbers of any task force team believed to have committed wrongdoing.

He reportedly said that street traders whose wares were seized by the task force should come to Government House Park Base to collect them.

He also reportedly assured the people of the state of the readiness of the task force to rid the state of any kind of obstructions from traders and commercial vehicles.

He also reportedly made it clear that the task force has zero tolerance for criminally-minded members of the task force, saying they would face instant punishment as warning to others.

The present task force on illegal markets, street trading and motor parks was inaugurated by the state government after previous one headed by Hon Bright Amaewhule was disbanded following claims of high- handedness and alleged corruption.
