PUBLIC NOTICE
RE: BURIAL OF LATE CHIEF (DR) O.B. LULU BRIGGS, OON, DCF, DSSRS HEAD OF YOUNG BRIGGS HOUSE OF ABONNEMA
This is to inform all sons and daughters of Oruwari Briggs Group of Houses of Abonnema, the Abonnema Community and the public at large that late Chief O. B. Lulu Briggs, who until his death was Head of Young Briggs House, will be buried on 13th March, 2021 in Abonnema.
However, our attention has been drawn to some notices and prints about the burial in which he is styled as Paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs Group of Houses. We therefore wish to inform the general public that he was never installed Paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs Group of Houses by the Abonnema Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs. This was duly acknowledged by all at a meeting of Chiefs of Oruwari Briggs House held on 7th March, 2021, which included Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs and other members of the Lulu Briggs family. The last Paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs Group of Houses, Oruwari VI ,was Late Chief Godwin Ngogo Alabraba who died one year after the death of Chief O. B. Lulu Briggs.
This clarification has become necessary as a result of misconceptions about the late Chief O. B. Lulu Briggs’s Chieftaincy status at death. Accordingly, we have invited the Abonnema Divisional Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs to the burial of late Chief O. B. Lulu Briggs in his dignified position as Head of Young Briggs House and hereby urge the esteemed Council and the general public to completely discountenance all references to the late Chief as Paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs Group of Houses as he was never so installed.
Late Chief O.B. Lulu Briggs loved his home town, Abonnema, and we believe that this public notice has also cleared all issues to ensure that the Abonnema community participates fully in his burial.
