Erastus Awortu Gets Royal Blessings As LG Elections Draw Close

The Assarama Council of Chiefs and Unyeada Divisional Council of Traditional Rulers in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have collectively showered royal blessings on Barr. Erastus Awortu PDP chairmanship candidate for Andoni Local Government Area in the April 17 council poll.

Awortu during his ward-to-ward campaign last Thursday paid a courtesy call on traditional rulers of Asarama and Unyeada communities.

During the visit, the paramount ruler of Unyeada Kingdom, HRH King Isreal Otuo represented by the Secretary of Unyeada Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Erasmus Mbira prayed for Awortu and his team.

“He prayed God to protect the candidate and grant victory to the party come April 17.

He also commended the party for projecting Awortu whom he said has very endearing qualities.

The PDP candidate Brr. Erastus Awortu has continued to enjoy commendations from different quarters especially from youths in the area who virtually see him as God sent’ and a solution to underdevelopment plaguing the area.

In appreciation to the people’s support, Awortu vowed to reposition the council on the part of growth when eventually elected.

“My ambition to lead the council was born out of a strong desire to reposition Andoni on the part of development and I’m convinced that I will achieve that with your votes,” Erastus said.

He expressed optimism on a landslide victory as thousands of party faithfuls and defectors from the APC graced his campaign in Asarama and Unyeada.

“I appreciate the reception accorded our campaign team by ward 9 and I promise that when we eventually assume office, we will not let you down.

“Ward 9 houses some of the oldest communities in Andoni yet it lacked basic amenities.

“Yes, Andoni is a very peculiar terran, there are so many areas separated due to lack of good road networks.

“When we eventually come on board, we will strive towards addressing infrastructure decay, embark on massive construction of internal roads/culvert to link communities.

“I believe that when this is achieved, livelihoods will be positively impacted.,” he said.
