Ogoni Group Honours Bori DPO
The Ogoni People Assembly (OPA) has presented an award of excellence to the Bori Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Bako Angbashim.
Presenting the award to the DPO at his office in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area at the weekend, the leader of OPA, Mr William Proben, said the decision to honour SP Angbashim was premised on his excellent performances since he assumed office as the officer in charge of the Bori Divisional Police Command.
Mr. Proben said the Ogonis were happy with the DPO whom he described as a gallant and down to earth officer.
He said his group engaged with the state and federal government hierarchy of the police force and other relevant stakeholders to make necessary recommendations for better policing in Ogoniland.
Mr. Proben urged all Ogoni people to remain calm and keep hope alive as they work assiduously for sustainable development.
Receiving the award, SP Angbashim said that the protection of lives and properties of the Ogoni people remains paramount in his agenda.
Mr. Angbashim urged the Ogoni people to shun cultism, because carrying guns and killing will not help the land, but will rather destroy them.
He also urged the Ogoni youths to submit any gun they have to the government and be free. He said they should struggle and hustle for life.
He called for the unity of the Ogonis in kicking out gang violence.
The DPO expressed gratitude to the Ogoni People Assembly for the award given him. “The award given to me is like a lubricating machine and that the award is to increase my effort to work harder”, he said.
