RSIEC Chairman, Rtd Justice Omereji Bags Award For Excellence

The Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral  Commission (RSIEC), Hon. Justice George .O. Omereji rtd has been conferred with an award of excellence.

The award was given to him by the Joint Assembly of Rivers State Youths drawn from all the 23 local government areas of the State on Thursday May 6,  at the RSIEC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

The leader of the youths body, Comrade Gashion Paul, who led other members of the executive council said the award to Hon. Omereji was in recognition of his service to humanity through his various services in the state, particularly the success of the just concluded local government election in the state.

According to him, in recent times the history of Rivers State has not recorded such free, fair, credible election, and commended the RSIEC boss for conducting such an election without blood shed and burning of properties.

Comrade Paul said Hon. Omereji earned the position as the chairman of RSIEC based on his proficiency and excellent performance while in office and thanked him for not disappointing Rivers people .

The leader of the youth body said a man like Hon. Omereji who has shown excellence in his immense contribution towards the betterment of the society should be encouraged to do more.

The group urged the RSIEC boss not to relent in rendering his quota of humanitarian services to the society, which they said has distinguished him among his contemporaries.

Responding, Hon. Omereji said he was humbled by the honour, saying there is no greater honour than to be recognized by the youths whom he described as the leaders of tomorrow and that the honour will spur him to continue to serve the state and mankind whenever he is opportuned to do so.

He dedicated the award to all the staff of RSIEC for working with him in unity, noting that honours like this should serve as a tonic for them to put in their best in performing their duties.

He also appealed to the youths to ensure that justice is their watchword at all times in order to make the state a better place.
