Let’s Work As Team, Delga Chairman Urges Stakeholders

The Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams has urged the newly sworn-in councillors and other stakeholders in Degema Local Government Area, to work in synergy in order to attract more development to the LGA.

He cautioned stakeholders from engaging in acts of rebellion and sabotage against the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike, as the LGA under his watch would not sit back and allow such elements of disunity to erode the goodwill of the governor in the LGA for their selfish gains, declaring that “if you fight Wike, I will fight you.”

He stated that the governor had done very well for the state, both in infrastructure and in the maintenance of peace and security, and as such, deserved the support of all well-meaning Rivers people, urging the people of Degema LGA to shun divisive tendencies, but work as a people with a common destiny.

The chairman gave the charge, Monday, during the swearing-in ceremony of his Vice, Hon. Mrs. Maureen Harry and the 17 councillors of the LGA, declaring that the new administration has come to work and not to share money.

He said his administration would promote and replicate Governor Wike’s sterling legacies in the LGA, while also doing everything to promote unity, peace and security.

Hon. Williams enjoined the newly inaugurated councillors to shun self-serving interests and unnecessary squabbles amongst them, urging them to work as a team, while promoting the ideals of the governor in their various wards.

He urged them to avoid external influences that would only distract them from enacting bye laws that would better the lot of their constituents, assuring that his administration would create the enabling atmosphere for proper legislative business.

He apprised that in just two days of taking over the saddle of leadership, power has been restored in the Council headquarters, noting that efforts were on to light up and change the face of the entire LGA.

The Council boss used the occasion to announce the immediate appointment of some aides, including;
