PDP Chieftain Explains Reason For Returning To Party

…Promises Contribution

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Alphine Whyte (JP), who recently returned to the party has said that he did so to identify with governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, who has performed brilliantly.

The former Deputy Mayor of Port-Harcourt City Local Government who spoke in an interview said he was impressed with performance of the governor and had decided to return to the party.

He said he was  founding member of the party and had contributed to growth and success of the party.

Hon Whyte said: “I looked at the developmental trend in the state. I looked at the boldness of the governor. I looked at his antecedents and I had no doubt that the governor has really kept to his words so there was every reason for us to reconsider our position and our thoughts and perception about him and I saw that he meant well for the state”.

He further said: “Now for you to appreciate what he is doing it is best for you to come up and closely identify with him and that is why I came up and said I’ve seen what he has done, I’m impressed I’m satisfied and in order to show my satisfaction I must come over and add my little quota within the next two years left for him to what he’s doing and that is why we decided to come over”.

He said he was convinced projects executed by the governor were people-oriented, saying that it was not mere rhetorics.

These were promises he made and fulfilled, he said adding that the governor was also defender of the state.

He said he would bring  experience to bear on the party saying he has helped people win elections.

He said he understands rudiments of politics having worked closely with successful politicians and described himself as a ‘Field General’ over contributions he could make to the party.

The party chieftain said he had great role to play ahead of forthcoming general elections saying with experienced hands working together the party would do better.

The former deputy mayor said: “There are lots of experienced hands in the party. Now if we collaborate, we will do it better. So I have great role to play ahead of 2023 and I think when the time comes without rhetorics people could see it. I believe in practical politics not the theoretical one”.

Hon Whyte said that opposition All Progressives Congress was in “pathetic state” and would not compete with the ruling party in the forthcoming general elections.
