Rivers Police Command Arrests 3 Armed Robbery Suspects, 27 Kidnappers, Serial Rapists, 6 Cultists

The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested twenty seven kidnappers, three armed robbery suspects and six suspected cultists in the last one month.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday made the disclosure during a press briefing with newsmen in Port Harcourt last Friday.

The Commissioner of Police CP Eboka gave the breakdown of the arrest as follows:

Arrest And Death Of Notorious Kidnapper/ Recovery Of Firearm And Ammunition:-

Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit with the aid of technical intelligence arrested one Monday Damte ‘M’ 27yrs whose GSM Number was used severally in demanding ransom for the release of kidnapped victims. He was arrested in Kaani in Khana Local Government Area of the State.

The gang was responsible for most kidnap incidents around Woji and Elelenwo Axis.  In the course of Investigation, he led the Police to their hideout for the recovery of more of their firearms. On arrival, his gang members opened fire on the Police and in the ensuing exchange of fire one of them by name Lebari was fatally wounded and died before he could access medical attention.

The Following Exhibits Were Recovered From Their Camp 

= Four AK47 rifles with breach Nos. PC 8324, 6H206K47, BD35792 and one without breach Number.

= Six Magazines

= Two Hundred and Twenty 7.62 mm AK47 live Ammunition

= Two Locally made Pistols

= Thirty five live cartridges

Investigation is still on and efforts are seriously on to arrest other gang members.

Arrest Of Notorious Kidnappers And Serial Rapists

On 5/6/2021 Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible information arrested the duo of Gideon Stephen 28yrs and Monte Victor 26yrs both of Bogho Yeghe in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

They are members of a notorious kidnapping gang in Ogoni land that specializes in kidnapping female victims and subjecting them to rigorous sexual intercourse unlawfully.

They were arrested after they kidnapped one Grace Gomba ‘f’, who was later rescued by the Police after four days in captivity. They will be charged to court soon.

Unlawfull Possession Of Live Ammunition

On 20/6/2021 at about 0700hrs, Operatives of Anti- Cultism Unit were on routine patrol along Sakpenwa Bori Road and intercepted a Commercial Bus carrying passengers. On searching the vehicle the Police recovered One Hundred and Twenty Seven (127) 7.62mm live Ammunition concealed in a bottle water preserved with a liquid suspected to be Automated Gas Oil (AGO). One Jonah Awaji ‘m’ the owner of the bag containing the exhibits was immediately arrested.

On interrogation, he confessed to being a member of Iceland Secret Cult and that he stole the exhibits from their camp in Gwara Gokana LGA to deliver to one Nelson Promise in Port Harcourt.

Efforts are still being made to apprehend members of his group ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT (ONE CHANCE SYNDICATE)

On 11/6/2021 at about 12oohrs Operatives of Anti-Cultism Unit, acting on credible information arrested one John Osuagwu ‘m’ a member of a four-man Robbery gang, who on that fateful day picked a young lady at Igwuruta-Ali and on their way, robbed and dispossessed her of her Tecno Telephone valued Thirty five Thousand Naira (#35,000.00) and cash sum of Seventy five Thousand Naira. The suspect who was caught in the act, confessed to the crime. The above exhibits were recovered immediately. He is helping the Police and will soon appear in Court.

Arrest Of Kidnappers:-

On 4/4/2021 at about 1920hrs, one Nwanze Hilary Nwankwo ‘m’ was kidnapped by unknown gunmen while returning from work. On the receipt of the matter, Operatives of the FIB Intelligence Response Team immediately went underground and in a covert Operation, arrested the trio of Ipalibo Dakka ‘m’ 29yrs, Marshal Richman ‘m’  26yrs Alla Patrick 30yrs who were negotiating for 50 Million Naira (#50m) ransom with the wife of the victim.

The victim was eventually released unhurt without ransom and his vehicle recovered. The suspects were arrested at Ogu-Bolo LGA, on their way to another kidnap operation.

Exhibits recovered from them include: one AK 47 rifle, two Magazines loaded with sixty rounds of live Ammunition, one G3 rifle with one Magazine loaded with seventy rounds of live Ammunition and one Lexus Jeep RX 330 without plate Number.

They are helping us in our Investigation and will be charged to Court as soon as Investigation is over ARMED ROBBERY/KIDNAPPING  

Operatives of the FIB Intelligence Response Team, while doing a follow up in a case of kidnapping of one Fransisca Angayefini ‘f’  arrested the duo of Akachi Owhor ‘m’ and Ndubuisi Daniel ‘m’ who had collected a ransom of 2.5 Million Naira. Upon arrest, part of the ransom money paid was recovered. Efforts are on to recover her Prado SUV and arrest other members of the gang.

Arrest Of A Three-man-one Chance Robbery Gang:

On 2/6/2021 at about 0830hrs at Rumuosi in Obio/Akpor LGA, Operatives of the Choba Area Command, arrested the trio of Chukwudi Ani ‘m’, Edwin Chibuike ‘m’ and Chidinma Eze ‘f’, members of a Robbery gang  that specialized in robbing unsuspecting persons of their belongings around Choba/Obiri Ikwerre axis of the State.

They were nabbed after successfully robbing one Simon Ibrahim, who was on his way to make deposit in the Bank. He boarded the Taxi as a passenger and while in their Mazda Car with Reg. No. EDE 180 DZ, he was dispossessed of his money.

However luck ran out on them when the victim raised alarm that alerted passers-by and the Police. They were immediately arrested and taken to the Choba Area Command. The victim had in possession the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira, which was recovered from them.

They are cooling their heads in the cell and will be arraigned as soon as their remnants are arrested.

Arrest Of A Murder Suspect:

Operatives of the FIB Intelligence Response Team, while cracking the syndicate that gruesomely murdered one Wisdom Chetachi ‘m’ 21yrs at a Hotel in Rumuekini in Obio/Akpor LGA, arrested one Richard Okumma ‘m’ 19yrs old, a native of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA. He was arrested with the aid of Technical Intelligence after he had perfected plans to escape to Imo State to evade Justice.

Arrest Of Kidnappers:-

Anti-Kidnapping Unit on 11/6/2021 at about 1930hrs trailed and arrested one Franklin Nwanyanwu ‘m’ 23yrs at Eberi-Omuma. The suspect and his gang had earlier kidnapped one Alhaji Abubakar Tijani and inflicted several matchet cuts on him and also snatched his Honda Accord Saloon car. The victim was released during the operation and his car recovered.

In the course of Investigation, the suspect led the Police to another forest in the same Eberi-Omuma and on arrival at the scene, his gang members on sighting the Police took to flight, and the following exhibits were recovered One Locally made single barrel Pistol

Furthermore the Police Team stormed another forest in search of one Lawrence Nwanyanwu (aka Big Law), the Native Doctor who prepares charms for the gang. On sighting the Police he escaped into the bush and abandoned his Mercedes Benz Car.

Investigation is ongoing and suspects will be charged as soon as    Investigation is over.

Arrest Of Notorious Kidnapper:

On 5/5/2021 at about 0645hrs a case of kidnapping was reported at the Anti-kidnapping Unit on the kidnap of one Uchechukwu Onyeche ‘m’ of Ndashi who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen. As a follow up to the case, on 7/6/2021 the duo of Godspower Uwakwe ‘m’ 30yrs and ThankGod Akagba ‘m’ 25yrs both of Ndashi Etche were arrested in connection with the case.

On interrogation, they confessed to have kidnapped the victim and killed him the same day.

They later led the Police to the bush where the victim was buried at Obite. The suspects who are members of OSPAC in Etche LGA further confessed to have carried out the dastardly act with two others who are still at large.

Investigation is on and efforts have been intensified to arrest their    fleeing members and recover more of their operational weapons

Arrest Of Notorious Cultists:-

On 27\6\2021 at about 1730hrs, acting on credible information on the nefarious activities of cultists operating in Mile 2 Diobu, Operatives of OCTOPUS Strike Force stormed their camp at Okwelle Waterfront, when they were about to initiate new members. However on arrival at the scene, they sighted the Police and a number of them escaped through the River, while five of them were arrested.

Exhibits Recovered From Them Include:-

= One Police functional and programmed walkie talkie

= One sharp Matchete

= One Corolla Saloon Car with Reg. No. Lagos A A A 701 CE Black Colour

= Cash sum of Sixty Seven Thousand Naira (#67,000.00).

Unlawful Possession Of Firearm

On 23/6/2021 at about 2200hrs, Operatives of Anti-Cultism Unit while on routine Patrol responded to a distress call, where a Birthday party was going on and while partying, one Prince Nwonodi armed with a Pump Action, stormed the venue and disrupted the party. He was immediately arrested and confessed ownership of the JOLEEF MAGNUM Pump Action.

Arrest Of Two Fraudsters (aka Money Doublers)

On 17/6/2021 Operatives of Special Area Police Station Rumuokoro while on routine Patrol arrested one Emmanuel John ‘m’, a Taxi driver who was driving a Golf 3 car with Reg. No. EX 737 AAA. He picked one Ordu Rita ‘f’ and while in his car he claimed to have five containers loaded with money and persuaded her to bring some money which will be used in buying chemicals to wash the said currency.

In the cause of their discussion, he hypnotized her and obtained her UBA ATM Card, where he withdrew the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (#50,000.00) . He also collected Recharge Cards worth about Ten Thousand Naira (#10,000.00) and physical cash of Forty Thousand Naira (#40,000.00). At the end of obtaining her he raped her in her house against her consent.   

In the cause of Investigation, the suspect on interrogation confessed to have committed the crime, mentioning members of his syndicate and led Police to Chokocho Town in Etche LGA where one Emmanuel Okaidu ‘m’ was arrested. They are currently helping the Police and will be charged to Court
