Late Victoria Okene Laid To Rest At 58
The remains of late Evangelist (Mrs) Victoria Tamunonengiofori Okene was on Saturday August 7, 2021 committed to mother earth at the Port Harcourt cemetery, Rivers State.
Late Victoria Tamunonengiofori Okene was born to the family of Pa and Ma Emmanuel Emmanuel of blessed memory in Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State. The family were residing and doing business there at the time.
Late Victoria was barely educated due to the demise of her father after the civil war but enrolled herself to acquire vocational skills in Confectionaries/Catering Services which was her main occupation until her death.
Sorrowfully retrospecting, her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Dokubo said her mother was a virtuous woman, who cared for her bothers, children and others.
She promised to imbibe all the virtues of her late mother and wished her eternal rest.
Also commenting, the two sons of late Victoria, Rowland Okene and David Okene in their separate speeches described their mother as an ideal woman who displayed good virtues, endowed with enviable character, a special breed with a large heart and would continue to extol her.
They said they lacked words to express her qualities, positing that her memory will ever remain fresh in their minds because she left her footprints on the sands of history.
They expressed optimism that their late mother is undoubtedly resting in the bosom of the Lord as she exhibited great love for God and the things of God while she was alive.
Engr. Israel Joseph who also graced the funeral ceremony expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family, and advised them to take solace in God, the author of life.
He admonished her children to take heart and trust in God because late Victoria died in the Lord and had gone to rest in the Lord.
He said it was because of her sterling qualities that friends, family and well-wishers came from far and near to bid her farewell.
Earlier, Superintendent Apostle Emmanuel Siyedukoma, the officiating minister in his sermon urged Christians to move closer to God since nobody can determine the end time, while describing late Victoria as an upright, devout Christian and a woman of high integrity who lived an exemplary life.
He said late Victoria was born into Christianity and practised it with zeal, calling on the children to emulate their virtuous mother.
