Some traders are now counting their losses following the fire incident that destroyed over 14 shops at T-junction in Rumuagholu community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State last Monday.
Our reporter gathered that the fire incident occurred at about 2 am while the traders were in their houses.
A victim, Elekwachi Sunday who deals on foodstuffs told our reporter that the failure of the government fire service to put off the fire led to complete razing of the shops which could have spread to another building but for the timely intervention of the youths in the area.
Mr Sunday explained that nobody is certain on the cause of the inferno.
Some people who assisted in putting off the fire said they suspect the fire may have resulted from electrical fault.
Meanwhile, some of the traders pleaded with the state government for intervention.
