Rivers State-born business magnet and philanthropist, Prince Kelvin Ekelechukwu Umejuru has bagged an international award for what the donors said was in appreciation of industry and humanitarian disposition to the society.
Umejuru who sits over a conglomerate, with corporate head offices in Port Harcourt, was conferred with the Golden Heart Award by Smart News Network (SNN) in conjunction with Ingenious (Africa) Ghana, a foreign media organization with African offices in Ghana and Lagos.
At a colourful ceremony which held at the spacious conference hall of En Global Services Nigeria Limited, behind Shell Residential Area, Port Harcourt on Saturday, August 27, 2021, the globally acclaimed news organization said the company executive was chosen for the prestigious Award following his relentless support to the needs of the downtrodden in society.
Also honoured at the epic event was His Royal Majesty, Eze (Amb) Uche Anayo Umejuru, paramount ruler of Idu-Ogba Community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) who was conferred with the Distinguished Leadership’ Award.
President and Executive Director of Smart News Network, Mr. Austin Edoho while presenting the award plaque to Prince Kelvin Ekelechukwu Umejuru who is the Chief Executive Officer of En Global Services Nigeria Limited; SCI Nigeria Limited and NORDGE Energy respectively, said their decision to confer the award on Umejuru followed a painstaking research into his philanthropic gestures.
“Hardwork, shrewdness and innovation were the hallmarks that defined his social and economic pedigree. We found how he admirably nurtured his conglomerate from a humble inception to pivotal positions of enjoying large market shares in the various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Prince Kelvin Ekelechukwu’s ascendance to stardom is no fluke. It is a culmination of outstanding courage, uncommon determination, focus and integrity. Today, his success is evidenced by the dominance of his companies in the various spheres of the Rivers State economy.
The flair and panache with which he combines and joggles all his demanding responsibilities is a testimony to his nimble faculties and alert mind. This noble Prince is however, a man who never rests in his oars.
In spite of his numerous achievements and daily tasks, he has vigorously contributed to humanity and society. Some of the numerous achievements of his foundation include: paying stipends to the elderly and the physically challenged, scholarship and bursary payment to students of higher institutions; donation of cash and foodstuff to recent flood victims in his community, women engaging in small scale business and cash donations to churches”, Edoho submitted, as the audience gave a standing ovation.
For another brief but pulsating moment, attention was shifted to award presentation to Eze (Amb) Uche Anayo Umejuru who was honoured with a Distinguished Leadership Award.
And as the ovation simmered, again, Edoho paid glowing tributes to the royal father, stating that the award on him was putting a round peg on a round hole.
In Edoho’s words: “His Royal Majesty is 100% deserving of this award. An exemplary, progressive and dynamic leader, his reign has been replete with positive transformational changes, characterized by peace, unity, progress and stability in his domain.
“A shining light and beacon of hope, his achievements in the development of Idu-Ogba kingdom and Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) in general have earned him great love and admiration by his subjects.
“As a custodian of the peoples’ culture and the symbol of royal authority, he fully realizes that leadership is a trust that must not be betrayed. Hence, he has demonstrated that he is not an arm-chair traditional ruler, waiting for his subjects to pay him homage on a daily basis.
It is instructive to mention that his passion for the welfare of the youths, plight of women and children as well as the wellbeing of the people of Idu-Ogba Kingdom, is second to none”.
In their responses, Prince Kelvin Ekelechukwu Umejuru said he was deeply humbled by the award and promised to render more selfless services to humanity.
“Today, you have honoured me with Golden Heart Award. This will spur me into more action and I am sure when you meet me again the nomenclature would certainly change for good”, he enthused.
Similarly, the OkwuonuKaOha 1 of Idu-Ogba Kingdom, Eze (Amb) Uche Anayo Umejuru thanked the Smart News Network for finding him worthy of the award.
According to him, he has been enjoying the grace of God as his contribution to the development of his kingdom was being appreciated not just in the kingdom but even outsiders.
“I have received several awards but this particular one is very striking because of the international element to it. May God bless the organizers for celebrating me”, he said.
The event witnessed goodwill messages and attestations from friends, relations, members of staff and well-wishers of the recipients who, incidentally are siblings of the Umejuru Family of Idu-Obosiukwu Community, ONELGA.
