Three days after cult clashes in an Ogoni community of Rivers State, the corpses of two men earlier declared missing were found in shallow graves in the area.
The corpses were identified as that of Nubari Ifaah, said to be a retired teacher and that of Chief Ideebom of Tego Village.
The two men, who appeared to have been shot in the chest and their lower abdomen, were residents of Kono Boue Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Both men had been declared missing after last Monday’s deadly cultists’ attack which claimed six lives.
Comrade Golden Nwibakpo, Public Relations Officer of the Community Development Committee of Kono-Boue who confirmed the discovery on Friday, said the retired teacher was a father of four, and was not known to be linked to any cult group in the area.
Nwibakpo said the corpses were found during a search for missing persons in the wake of the deadly attack in his community.
THE WHISTLER learnt that the cult clashes started on Monday when some suspected cultists reportedly killed a man in Gwara, and two boys from Uegwere Bo-ue, a neighboring community.
While no arrest had been made, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, on Tuesday said the command was combing forests in the area in an attempt to apprehend members of the fleeing gang.
