Police Allegedly Shoot Protesting Julius Berger Workers In Rivers

Police attached to Bori Area Command in Khana Local Government Area have been accused of allegedly shooting protesting workers of Julius Berger Nigeria last Monday.

There was pandemonium as at least four workers of Julius Berger Nigeria (JBN) Plc in the Bonny/Bodo NLNG project who were protesting for swamp allowance, improved salary and better welfare package were allegedly shot by the police at Gokana Local Government Area in a bid to disperse them.

Four workers who reportedly sustained gunshot wound were said to be in critical condition at a general hospital in the area.

The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, was yet to speak on the incident as at press time.

Recall that workers of Julius Berger Nigeria engaged by the construction giant in Port Harcourt had embarked on protest twice on issues bordering on poor salary and welfare.
