Rumuwoji Market: Traders Express Concern  Over Prolonged Delay In Allocation Of Stalls

Traders have expressed concern over prolonged delay in the allocation of stalls at Rumuwoji Market built by the administration of Chief Nyesom Wike.

They said they were waiting for government to allocate the stalls so they would move into them.

Balloting process for stalls in the market was put on hold when there were claims of fraudulent activities in the balloting process.

A source who did not want his name in print said that they were in court over the alleged fraud in  balloting process.

He said that the matter was in court and there would be judgement on Monday September 27.

He alleged balloting process for the stalls was fraudulent prompting traders to go to court.

However he said there was agreement to allot stalls to rightful owners saying they were previously dissatisfied stalls were not allocated to them.

He said that the case was before the High Court presided by Honourable Justice Adolphus Enebeli.

He said they were displaced when the government started the balloting process for stalls in the market.

He also said the government had agreed to allot the stalls to rightful owners who were doing business there before the market was gutted by fire.

When the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, had visited the market which was gutted by fire he had promised to rebuild the market and kept his word when he laid foundation stone for rebuilding of the market which was later completed but since then the market had not been used for business by traders.

The source said the agreement was that the government would allocate stalls to rightful owners who were doing business there before the market was destroyed by fire.

At the moment traders only do business by side of the rebuilt market with stalls remaining vacant and unused.

The market with various stalls for the traders to do business would be a decent place for the transaction of business.
