Ways To Further Shore Up IGR In Rivers – Maxwell Elechi
A concerned citizen and stakeholder, Mr. Chima Maxwell Elechi, has made some useful suggestions to the Rivers State government to shore up its Internally Generated Revenue.
Elechi in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt said Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike needs to be supported with useful advice to do more. “He has indeed demystified governance with his pragmatic and proactive approach to politics and needs to be encouraged to put in his best”, he said.
According to him, Governor Wike should be appreciated for his developmental strides in the State especially on infrastructural development and on the building of the 10 flyover bridges in the cities;
Mr Elechi suggested that shops, motor parks and public toilets should be provided under the flyover bridges to not only serve the waiting passengers but also provide employment to the teeming unemployed youths and as well reduce criminality. These activities, he noted, will in no small way rake in additional revenues for the State.
He also used the opportunity to commend the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the initiative to push for the VAT collection which of course has been supported and copied by some of his colleagues.
He noted that if the breakthrough is not frustrated, it will no doubt chart a way for the much talked about true federalism in the country, appealing for maximum support for the Wike administration to succeed.
