Ogu/Bolo Celebrates Creation Of Council In Grand Style
…As Council Chairman Declares October 1, As Anniversary Day
October 1st, 2021 will remain evergreen in the minds of Ogu/Bolo people both young and old as they came out in their numbers to celebrate its 25th anniversary of the creation of the council/100 days in office of Hon. Vincent Nemieboka. The epoch making event took place at the Council Secretariat amidst jubilation.
The Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie while ministering the word of God, admonished the people to ensure that love is paramount in all their doing, saying genuine love must be demonstrated by all to enhance development. He noted that love for people is one of the greatest commandments by God.
He urged the traditional rulers not to tolerate criminality in their domains, and should be bold enough to express and expose criminals and their hideouts to the law enforcement agencies so as to bring sanity in the land, adding that it is time for justice to eliminate injustice.
He urged politicians to be real statesmen concerned about the future of this nation and not just their personal well-being.
According to him, a statesmen prepare for the next generation while politicians prepare for the next election. He therefore urged them to be statesmen that will join in building Ogu/Bolo if they want to be remembered for their good works when they leave office.
The man of God stated that as citizens of Ogu/Bolo they should at all times reflect the image of the local government area because people will assess them by their actions.
Pastor Ibiyeomie appealed to the youths not to join in destroying the area but help build the nation, and not sell their birthright for cheap money.
The Amanyanabo of Bolo Kingdom, HRM King Acheseinimie Micah Frank, Bolo-Luka VIII said he was extremely happy for the event because God appreciates thanksgiving.
The monarch who said he appreciated the message of the man of God noted that any traditional ruler that is not ready to tell the truth is not worthy to occupy such stool”.
He urged the people to take cognizance of what was said, loving one another as key to peace and development.
The Council Chairman, Hon. Vincent Nemieboka in his address said Silver Jubilee is worth celebrating especially in Ogu/Bolo local government area, looking at where they were 20years ago.
His words: In those days, we had no voice and we could not muster our talents and resources for the benefit and development of our local government. But in 25 years the change can be felt deeply all around us.
He stated that the Silver Jubilee has afforded his administration the opportunity to build a new foundation for a better local government area that will stand the test of time in another 25years.
Hon. Nemieboka vowed to intensify programmes that promote unity and strengthen their relationship with their neighbours to expand their economic opportunities, enhance their social relations and the security. He used the opportunity to announce that 1st October every year shall be institutionalized as Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Thanksgiving Day.
The council boss also enumerated some of his achievements in his 100 days in office which include regular electricity supply, provision of portable water at Wakama-Ama and Ele Town, the construction of two health centres of 10 bed capacity at Ele Town and Ikpo-Ama and lots more.
The highlight of the event was presentation of Silver Jubilee awards in different categories to prominent Ogu/Bolo indigenes.
