World Bank Loan: IPAC Threatens Legal Action If Rivers State Is Excluded

The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Rivers has frowned at what it called deliberate exclusion of Rivers State from the World Bank loan being sourced by the Federal Government.

IPAC at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Monday, urged the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency include Rivers state as a beneficiary of the loan.

“The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC as concerned citizens of Rivers State, aside from being leaders of various political parties, deem it absolutely important and expedient that this act of denial be corrected immediately and Rivers state be included as a beneficiary of the said World Bank loan”.

IPAC Statement which was signed by its Secretary, Omangima Harry noted that the exclusion is injurious to the human and infrastructural development of the State and her people since Rivers State will be part of the process of repaying the loan.

“It is on record that in the past, Rivers state had been a beneficiary of various loans obtained by the Federal Government and therefore queries the exclusion of the State this time around”, it said.

IPAC appealed to the National Assembly and other people of good conscience to prevail on the Federal Government and her advisers to include Rivers State as a beneficiary, warning that failure would attract necessary legal actions.
