Late Mrs. Mary Enyaogu Laid To Rest

The remains of Late Mrs. Mary Obrianta Gold Enyaogu (nee Matthew), mother of the Provost of Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku, Rivers State, Dr. Sir, Emmanuel Ikenyiri who departed this world on Wednesday 1st September, 2021 at the age of 87 years was on Friday 15th October, 2021 laid to rest at her residence in Obrikom Community near Omoku in  Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

In his homely at the funeral service held at the First Baptist Church, Obor, (the deceased home church) the Vicar Incharge, Pastor Kelvin Ogarabe described death as though painful but a necessary journey which all human mortal truly created by God Almighty must experience at his/her appointed time.

The man of God described the Late Mrs. Mary Obrianta Gold Enyaogu as a devoted Christian who despite all odds worshiped and served God faithfully, finished her work on earth peacefully before departure at a ripe age and encouraged the bereaved families to take solace in the fact that their daughter and mother lived a very blessed life and fulfilled the purpose for which God Almighty in his infinite wisdom created her and commended Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri and his siblings for not only taking proper care of their mother while alive but for giving her at befitting farewell

In his tribute, the Chief mourner and Provost (FCE(T) Omoku, Dr. Emmanuel Ekne Ikenyiri described her late mother as a virtuous and an accomplished woman who were loved by her children and relations because of her goodness and praised her creator, (the Almighty God) for calling her home at a fulfilled age of 87 years despite all the challenges.

He noted that though death is inevitable but her mother would have stayed more years to enjoy her sufferings but expressed joy for the good life she lived and expressed appreciation to all those who have stood with them since the demise of his mother.

According to a Press Release issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of  FCE (T) Omoku,  Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh, JP (Mmboh Krikri), the burial ceremony was attended by people from all walks of life among them are the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Abuja, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwele, the Director of Finance of the Commission, Dr. Jonah Obasi, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Dr. Christian Azubuike Oboh, Members of FCE(T) Omoku, Governing Council, Dr. Moses Ade Afolabi, Dr. R.O.O. Iyede, Engr. Goodluck Ikenyiri, Dr. M. M. M. Ekpa, Dr. Godpower O. Ahiakwo and comrade Adiela Charles, while the Oba (Eze-Ogba) 12th of Ogbaland, His Eminence, Oba Barr. Nwachuku Obuoha Nnam-Obi III was represented by a delegation of Traditional Rulers led by the Eze Obohia of Ogbaland HRH, Eze, Sir Michael Olowu.

Others are a former National Assembly Member, Prof. J.C. Imegi, the immediate past Chairman of ONELGA, Chief Ifeanyi Odili, a Port Harcourt based legal Practitioner, Barr. Victor Ihua-Maduenyi, the mayor of DCF of Nigeria, Dr. Ebere Abali a former Acting Provost of FCE(T) Omoku, Prof. Pac Ordu, a former Registrar of the College, Dr. A.C. Nwokocha, the Director, Osia Digital Press Ltd., Port Harcourt, Chief I. O. Osia, a former Manager with Nigeria Agip Oil Company Ltd., Chief Chris Emeka Okoroma, the Eze Ali Usomini of Ogbaland, HRH Eze (Dr) Allen Osoh, JP, ably represented by a delegation of Chiefs led by the Omenka of Ogbaland, Chief Amadike Olumba, a delegation of Colleges of Education Academic Union (COEASU) from Omoku, Agbor and Warri, Profs. Chris Ahiakwo and Akin Kabari of Rivers State University, Prof. Cheta Williams of University of Port Harcourt, Academia, Traditional Rulers, Chiefs, the Political Class, women and youth leaders, clergies, Knights and Ladies from various religious bodies, while the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of FCE(T) Omoku was led by the Deputy Provost of the College, Dr. M. M. M. Ekpa, and the Registrar, Dr. Godpower Obi Ahiakwo.

Outing/Thanksgiving Service in honour of the departed which was held at the First Baptist Church Obor on Sunday 17th October, 2021 was graced by thousands of persons.
