PHALGA Councillor Lauds Mayor Over Achievements In 100 Days
The Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Hon Allwell Ihunda (JP) has been commended on his achievements in 100 days in office. Speaking to newsmen during one of the events to celebrate the feat, one of his Councillor representing Ward 10 Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Phalga, Hon Weche Raymond Ndubuisi noted that the monumental achievements recorded was due to the cordial relationship existing between the Legislative Assembly and the Executives. He made it known that these crop of elected leaders in the council are ready and willing to leave worthy legacies.
Hon Weche who is the Chairman, Health Comittee disclosed that they have rolled out Free Medical Outreach for the people and residents of the area as well as the establishment and commissioning of a Global Computer Center situated in his Ward for skill acquisition on GSM hard and soft ware .equipments.
He used the opportunity to commend the leadership style of his Boss which he said made it possible for their achievements including organizing a workshop/orientation for them the green horns to enable them catch up with their duties. The Councillor made it clear that with the enabling environment, there will be no need for distraction and that their constituents will be better for it.
On what he himself can pinpoint as his own achievements, Hon Weche said the peace and unity being enjoyed at the grassroots is part of his handiwork. ” We also have a lot of other people oriented projects lined up through our constant consultation with the people including Solar street lights and community gates to improve on security,” he disclosed.
On the recent approval to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the transmission of electoral results electronically, the councilor said it is a welcome development as it will strengthen the nascent democracy. He however did not agree with the Direct Primary system of selecting of candidates for election due to the inherent disadvantages involved adding that the Indirect Primary or Consensus system is a better alternative as various political parties have their different ideologies.
On the Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary celebration, Hon Weche said there was not enough for the nation to celebrate considering her enormous human and material resources. He however expressed hope for a better future.
