Amuzi Progressive Union Gets New EXCO

The Port Harcourt branch of the Amuzi Progressives Union (APU) has elected a new executives to pilot it’s affairs in the Rivers State capital.

In a keenly contested election held at its meeting venue along Emenike Street, Diobu, Port Harcourt on Sunday, business man, Mr. Desmond Esowune emerged Chairman while Engr. Godwin Uzoma settled as his vice.

The election also saw the emergence of Port Harcourt based media practitioner and Editor of National Network newspaper, Mazi Ken Asinobi, as Secretary with Dr. Raymond Azubuike as Assistant Secretary.

The positions of Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer went to Engr. Maxwell Ukaegbu and Benjamin ‘Aliben’ Alimnu respectively.

APU, Port Harcourt branch is an arm of the apex Amuzi Progressives Union in Dim-Na-Nume Community, Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.

In his acceptance speech after the new exco was sworn in, Desmond Esowune expressed gratitude to members for finding him worthy to serve.

“I may not be the most qualified in all ramifications but whatever qualities you found in me to repose such confidence in me, I promise to do my best and with on my side, to meet your expectations”, he pledged.

The Chairman who further pledged to run an open door and transparent administration, said this would not be achievable without the cooperation of all and sundry.
