RSG Dissolves IAUE Governing Council
…As Wike, Deputy Felicitate With Muslims On Eid-El Malud
Rivers State Governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed the immediate dissolution of the Governing Council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.
A statement by Rivers Education Commissioner, Professor Kaniye Ebeku requested members to hand over all university property in their procession to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike has called on the Muslim community in the state to use the celebration of the Eid-el-Maulud, birth of Prophet Mohammed to advance the cause of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
In a statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, Special Assistant (Media) to the Rivers State governor, the Governor said that his administration will continue to promote religious tolerance amongst all residents in the state.
Governor Wike advised the Muslim faithful to imbibe the virtues of love, peace, patience, communal living and honesty which are qualities of Prophet Mohammed, in their daily lives.
While wishing the Muslim community a wonderful Eid-el-Maulud celebration, the governor urged them to always pray for the government and people of the state.
In the same vein, Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.), Ipalibo Harry Banigo has felicitated with Muslims in the state as the global community celeb rates Eid-el-Maulud.
In her goodwill message signed by the Head of Press, Office of Deputy Governor, Owupele Benebo, Dr. Banigo urged Muslims to exhibit honesty, humility, love, patience and tolerance at all times.
She said under the watch of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Rivers State would continue to be hospitable t all residents and urged them to continue to be peaceful while wishing them a happy celebration.
