The Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Hon (Dr.) Thomas Bariere has won a confidence vote from an Ogoni socio-cultural group, Ogoni As One, following the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere that prevailed during the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the area.
In what it posited as an honest assessment of events during and after the festive season, the body said Dr. Bariara has warmed his way into many hearts, as a man who loves peace and would do everything to achieve it.
Speaking to National Network in Bori, headquarters of KHALGA on Monday, the President of the group, Comrade Singto Fotoh applauded the Khana Council boss for working in line with the objectives of his group.
“We took out time to traverse the length and breadth of Khana Local Government Area during and after the festivities and we were highly impressed to see people, especially the youths celebrating like never before.
“The atmosphere was beautiful to behold. It was just spectacular in all the communities we visited. From Zakpon to Eekee, to Kpean to Sogho, the atmosphere was simply electrifying with music, dancing and jamboree. We are really pleased with Dr. Bariara and thank him for providing the peaceful atmosphere”, Poto said.
He said the body, Ogoni As One, is a creation of like minds, with the sole objective of instilling love and unity amongst the youths of Ogoni.
“We were disturbed by the spate of violent crisis that threatened the whole of Ogoni last year. We met and said enough is enough. We met at Buan in November and formed Ogoni As One.
“We were motivated when we learnt that Dr. Bariara has put peace and unity in the front burner of his administration, and we resolved that we will give him every support he needs”, Poto disclosed.
The group appealed to well meaning people of Khana LGA to reciprocate the efforts of the Council Chairman by remaining law abiding.
