Rivers NUJ Council Scribe Emerges Community Devt Chairman
The Rivers Council Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Mr. Ike Wigodo has emerged the CDC Chairman of the Rumuwoji Community in Mile One Diobu, Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He defeated his opponents with a wide margin in a bye-election of the community conducted over the weekend.
He was immediately sworn in alongside others.
Ike, you would recalled was nominated unopposed for replacement on the position after the death of the incumbent his cousin but met stiff opposition and had to go through the bye-election which he won.
You would recalled that the chairman’s late cousin Isaac Chibueze Wigodo was elected the CDC Chairman of the Community but was suddenly cut down through death which prompted the NUJ scribe to be nominated unopposed for the seat but some persons were against the development and wanted due process to be followed for electing him, into the office alongside other aspirants.
In his post election remarks the elected CDC chairman, appreciated the chief and elders, youths and women of the community for the confidence repose in him.
He also thanked the Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Hon. Allwell Ihunda and other stakeholders who played important rules in the election and promised not to disappoint them.
You would also recalled that Wigodo has serve the community as a secretary and a Caretaker Committee chairman at one point or the other in the past.
It is also interesting to know that Wigodo won the secretaryship position in the NUJ election recently.
Speaking with newsmen at the sideline of the event he promised to ensure that the reconstructed Rumuwoji (Mile One) Market which had been allocated starts functioning soonest alongside other promises.
