My Recipe For Crime-Free Rivers – Danagogo Briggs
A frontline businessman and National President of Community of Reformed Youth Initiative (CRYI), Deacon Danagogo Taribo Wenike Ofurum Briggs, has unveiled a ten-point action plan which he says, is capable of catapulting the state to it’s desired level, if well executed.
Disclosing these to journalists in Port Harcourt, Monday, the Abonnema-born Deacon in Salvation Ministries said the action plans covered areas of health, industrialization, infrastructure, skills development, housing, security, agriculture, sports and tourism among others.
Briggs, whose eyes are set on the Rivers’ Brick House come the 2023 general elections, said one of his heart cry is to tackle the monstrous issue of insecurity bedeviling the nooks and crannies of the country, adding that the monster had persisted as, according to him, the political leadership were bereft of ideas and lacked the political will to provide for the safety of the citizenry.
Stating that insecurity would stop when jobs are created, he added that nature does not allow vacuum, stressing that unemployment vacuum in both the state and nation had bred insecurity in the land.
The articulate and well-nurtured personae said his agenda was aimed at putting the youth and women at the center of inclusive development with clear plans to achieve the enumerated action plans.
“When we initiated the “Community of Reformed Youth Initiative for Employment Creation (CRYI) in Rivers state 2019, we observed that River State was a nation of great potential and resources but a disappointing level of achievements compared to her value deposit as a state.
“This is what we can say of Rivers State today: a state of great potential & resources but Unutilized. Negligence of governance on employment status of citizens and non-citizens underpins Rivers as under-achievement. This must be reversed.
“We will reverse it for Rivers state to realize its great potential, through our ten-point agenda in this manifesto. The central focus of the manifesto is to create jobs through sustainable developments in oil and gas, agriculture, industry, technology, real estate and the government service sectors. We are well aware that these cannot be achieved without a governance system that allows for free expression of the aspirations and choices of the people as well as their full participation in development.
“That is why we plan to strengthen the structures of devolved governance up to the LGA level. This will give an opportunity to every citizen in Rivers State to have very good jobs as well as make contribution to unlocking the great potential of the state and share in the prosperity.
“Rivers state economy will once again begin to fly with the eagles and stop walking with the chicken as has happened in the last few years of governance”, he declared.
