SCIID Takes Over Case Of Alleged Defilement Of 5yr Old Girl

The State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt has taken over the case of alleged defilement of a five year old girl by a man simply identified as Bright at Rumuekeni in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, National Network can report.

Our correspondent gathered that the case was transferred from Choba Police Division to SCIID, Port Harcourt last week Friday.

When contacted, acting spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko told our reporter she would get back to him but she was yet to revert as at press time.

The mother of the five year old child in an interview with our reporter disclosed that she became aware of the incident when her daughter started complaining of pains in her private part and upon interrogation she disclosed that the said Bright tampered with her private part.

The mother of the alleged defilement survivor explained that she reported the case to the Choba Police Division and the suspect was arrested.

She also told our correspondent that her landlord and a member of local vigilante personnel beat her up for reporting the matter to the Police.

Relatively, a man identified as Daniel has been arrested by Police Division at Bori in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers for alleged breaking and entry and raping of a twenty year old girl at Luegbo, Beeri community Khana Local Government Area.

A cousin to the alleged rape survivor, told our reporter that the suspect, who is a married man and father of two on pretence of looking for wheelbarrow to hire, broke into the house of a female neigbbour on noticing that the neigbour went out very early in the morning and left only the twenty year old sister n the house.

Our source disclosed that the suspect took his victim who was asleep by surprise as he(suspect) remove the wrapper she was putting on and tore her pant as the victim continued to raise alarm.

The suspect, we learnt overpowered his victim and raped her but was apprehended by neigbours who were attracted to the scene by the alarm raised by the victim.

The sister to the alleged rape victim who did not also want her name in print confirmed the incident but declined further comment.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko said she will get back to our correspondent but was yet to do so as at time of filing this report.
