The Managing Director of Global Process and Pipeline Services Limited (GPPSL), Engr. Obi Uzu has said that efficiency and quality service delivery was the hallmark that signposted the company as a leading brand in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Uzu who stated this while speaking at the official opening of the company’s state-of-the-arts head office complex along Eastern Bypass Way in Port Harcourt on Friday, said in pursuit of its vision, the company has worked assiduously to achieve a high competency level with unrivalled capabilities.
He said: “When you look and walk around the once virgin, swampy and empty ground, it is obvious that we have become a definition of growth, progress, expansion and massive capacity increase.
“This became possible through the rare commitment of our dedicated workforce, a truly competent and professional human capacity”.
Uzu said the company currently has the largest in-country pumping, process and pipeline services’ equipment fleet, matched with competent team. He added that GPPSL was executing eight major projects simultaneously with more than 65% of assets out on the jobs, adding further that its experienced team had maintained an ever-increasing unbroken focus in her core business of pipeline and process service line within the oil and gas industry.
GPPSL, he said, had continuously trained and retrained its next level managers in some of the world’s best institutions like Harvard and Cambridge Universities, adding that the GPPSL, as a truly Nigerian company remains the best example of local content success story.
In his keynote address at the event, the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote commended the management of GPPSL for a job well done, noting that the commissioning of the gigantic edifice is an indication that the oil and gas sector in Nigeria is growing.
He urged the company to develop its clientele base as well promote and sustain local content practice, adding that the board of NCDMB has started what it called Project 100 aimed at enhancing local capacity development.
His words: “We intend to help 100 companies in the oil and gas industry get to the next level with the provision of funds and incentives”, Wabote said.

He said the board in partnership with the Bank of Industry has launched a $200m intervention fund for Nigerian oil and gas service providers who are contributors to the Nigerian Content Development Fund, and urged them to fill the application forms sent to them.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of GPPSL, Professor S.J.S. Cookey said he was elated that Engr. Uzu had finally realized his dream of becoming a leading figure in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria, urging his to sustain the enviable standard.
Cookey who was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt while Uzu was a student of the institution commended the company for acquiring state-of-the-art machines which has given it competitive edge in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Some key players in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry present at the event include the representative of Mr. Paul McGrath, Chairman/Managing Director of ExxonMobil Nigeria; Engr. Chidi Izuwah, Acting DG/CEO, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission and Mazi Bank-Anthony Okoroafor, Chairman, PETAN.
