Osunwa Salutes AGN On 24 Years Anniversary
…As Rivers Actors, Actresses Roll Out Drums In Celebration
The Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Rivers State chapter, Mr. Ken Osunwa has felicitated with National President, Ejezie Emeka Rollas on the 24th anniversary celebration of the body.
Osunwa, in a statement circulated to journalists in Port Harcourt, Monday, said AGN in Rivers State is proud to associate with the organization whose name has been etched in gold.
The Rivers AGN boss particularly praised Rollas for taking AGN to an enviable height and urged him to keep up the tempo.
While also congratulating all actors and actresses in the country on the 24 years celebration, Osunwa used the chance to applaud Mr. Rollas for setting up the National Patrons Board.
“I strongly believe that the setting up of this Board will create a conducive environment for a healthy social interaction to enable the Patrons network and build robust, mutually beneficial relationship, while they also help to contribute ideas to the growth and development of the Guild”, Osunwa declared.
On his blueprint for the AGN in Rivers State, the veteran Imo State-born Producer and Director, said he has since hit the ground running to reposition the Guild for better service delivery.
“Sadly, a Guild that was run like a personal enterprise was foisted on us and we swallowed the bitter pill. But thanks to God we came on the scene.
“My avowed commitment is to run an all-inclusive Guild where, by the help of God, all stake holders will be proud partakers”, he said.
The Rivers AGN Chairman said the stage is set for a 4-day carnival to celebrate the event in the state, reeling out the schedules as follows: Anniversary Tour of Media Houses (Thursday, March 10); Community Service/Walk, From Isaac Boro Park (Friday, March 11); Visit to Benevolent Orphanage, Rumuodomaya (Saturday, March 12) and Anniversary Celebration (Sunday, March 13) with Red Carpet billed for 4 pm and Main Event, 5 pm respectively to hold at the popular Brooklyn Hotels off Agudama Street, D/Line, Port Harcourt.
Although the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) was officially certified in 1999, the body adopted March 4 as AGN Day, to reflect its birth on March 4, 1998 when it was then known as Nigerian Actors Guild (NAG) and also commenced its registration process at the time.
