Women Enjoined To Uphold Virtues Of Good Mothers, As St Peter’s Anglican Church Marks Mother’s Day
Christian women have been enjoined to continue to uphold the virtuous of a good mother and remain steadfast in the Lord.
The Chairman of the 2022 Mother’s Day celebration of St Peter’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, Francis Ochin Alli who made the assertion during the service said the role of women in the church and society cannot be over emphasized, and further advised them to always remain as true mothers in the household of God.
According to him, as mothers, they should preach peaceful co-existence, love and unity amongst all for a better and prosperous society.
He admonished them to also focus on the activities of their children and wards by bringing them up in the fear of God, so that when they grow-up, they will not depart from the truth and the word of God.
The Chairman of the day congratulated them on their celebration and described the project being embarked upon by the women of the church as a welcome development that is worthy of commendation and support.
Mr Ochinr however, appealed to the men to always encourage their wives in the work of God for abundance blessings and further charged the mothers of the church not to relent in their duties to God and mankind.
Also speaking with on the sidelines of the service, one of the chief launchers at the occasion, Engr. Oriyebaka Jonah described the celebration as a welcome development for the mothers to come together and articulate programmes that would spour-up their Christian faith and duty to God and humanity.
Engr. Jonah advised them to be exemplary in all their activities for others to follow their footsteps as future mothers of the society, adding that women deserve to be celebrated.
He further appealed to them to keep up the spirit, be a blessing to the church and society as well as cherish their role in the family.
In her sermon, the Guest Preacher, Mrs. Ibiye Alfred Orupabo who preached on the theme, “Our help cometh from the Lord” admonished Christians including the mothers to trust in God as He is the author and finisher of our faith, stressing that with God all things are possible.
The occasion also witnessed the honouring Of Dr. Golden Dappah and Engr Angabo Iruayenama as Fathers of the Day Mrs. Rosaline Minainyo Ibiene and Mrs. Daizy John as Mothers of the Day, Tamunobelema Onikio (aka Onunu) and Miss Tamunobere Dede as Son of the Day and Daughter of the Day respectively, while Mr. and Mrs. Okosimeka Orupabo, Mr. and Mrs. James Ibunemi and Mr. and Mrs. George Owubokiri were honoured as Examplary families.
The Amanyanabo of anient Ele kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, king Felix Tamunoseipiriala Okuru, Apina VII who was the Royal father of the day and chief launcher was represented by the Chairman, Ele Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Joseph Oloye Buloabere while intercession prayers were offered for the nation, the families, the women project and the Church which culminated into special decoration and presentation to the president of Mothers Union /Women’s Guild, Mrs. Rechael Bamson and wife of the curate, Mrs. Stella Ogbologugo.
