Ekpeye People Elect New King

A new king, Eze Ekpeye Logbo III, has finally emerged. He is HM, Anugwo Kelvin Ngozi. The election which held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 was coming after a number of postponements. Four persons took part in the keenly contested election.

They include the eventual winner, His Highness Anugwo Kelvin Ngozi, High Chief Prof. Appiah Dulu, High Chief (Hon) Ewor Robinson Nname and Rt. Hon. (High Chief) Stephen Ezekwem Amenenim. Voting was by secret ballot. 

The Chairman, Electoral Committee, HM, Chief Stephen Ihua-Maduenyi while announcing the winner of the election, declared HRH, Anugwo Kelvin Ngozi as the winner, the Eze Ekpeye Logbo III and certificate of Return was given to him.

The new Eze Ekpeye Logbo III, speaking after receiving the certificate of Return said he was overwhelmed and dedicated the victory to God and his late parents, and also thanked the entire Ekpeye people for seeing him fit as Eze Ekpeye Logbo III and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him.

He expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the election, assuring that he would work with all to ensure Ekpeye nation remains focused and stronger. He also disclosed that his agenda for the people of Ekpeye will centre on peace and unity, security and will also make Ekpeye heard at the Rivers State Council Traditional Rulers.

He called all hands to be on deck to achieve the expected goals, while pleading with all sons and daughters of Ekpeye to give him the needed support to enable him succeed.

The Chairman of Ahoada West, Hon. Hope Ikiriko who was there to supervise the election said it was an election of excellence, that is worthy of emulation.

He described the electoral process as peaceful and very transparent, stressing that he was satisfied with the entire process and that the result of the election has shown that the winner is the true choice of the people.

The council boss appealed to the new Eze Ekpeye Logbo III to bring everybody together to ensure that Ekpeye returns to its pride of place and also moves on in terms of development and urged those that lost the election to join hands to work with the new Eze so as to move Ekpeye forward.

A native of Okporowo in Ahoada East, Richman Samson Umeibigi  congratulated the new Eze Ekpeye Logbo III and asked him to consider the mandate given to him as a call to selfless service to the entire people of Ekpeye people.

He said the people who came out enmass to celebrate the new Eze Ekpeye Logbo described the victory as God’s will, saying the new royal father is indeed a man of valour who remained resolute with Ekpeye people.
