Late Chief Wigodo Laid To Rest

It was indeed a celebration of life when the remains of a respected Community and Religious leader, Late Chief Apollos Nwankwo Wigodo was laid to rest in his country home recently at Rumuwoki community in Port-Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State at the riped age of 110 years.

Delivering his sermon at the solemn occasion, Evangelist Igbarima Alex Fubara of the Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Mgbuoba church was full of praises to God for the gift of longevity the family enjoys, which he noted is rare these days. The man of God said it is good for one to live and die in the Lord, adding that Christians should endeavour to live a Godly life and work towards attaining heavens at the end of ones struggles in this earth.

He declared that Hell and Heaven is real and that whichever destination anybody choses to go will be determined by his/her deeds on earth as everyone will face the last judgement.

In his biography, late Chief Wigodo was said to have lived a sincere and honest life and stood by the truth always which they said distinguished him from other Community leaders.

According to the family, “papa did not attend a formal education but ensured that all his 13 children, 22 grand children and 6 great grand children covered the gap for him”.

Late Chief Wigodo was said to have laid a solid foundation of unity and peace in his large family.

Chief Apollos Wigodo was a founding member of the Chiefs and Elders council of Rumuwoji Community, Abali-Rebisi. He held various positions of trust in the Community. They said he was always readily available to any Community emissary as he would always tell the truth.

Above all, the biography said papa feared God and took part in the forming of church meetings that built the first St Thomas Anglican Church through the various contribution.

Speaking with newsmen, the Chief Mourner Pastor Innocent N. Wigodo Esq. said their father left a big shoe for him but prayed God to give him the enablement to pilot the family affairs successfully. He said appealed to his siblings to support him through unity of spirit and purpose in order to maintain the legacy be quatted to them.

Highlight of the event was a special prayer session for the bereaved family members by the officiating Ministers including Evangelists Cletus Okpu and Igbarima Fubara, Pastor Paul Igwe, Bro. Famous Idoh and Bro. June Alie.

Politicians across the political parties were all present at the funeral ceremony to pay their last respect.
