RSG Committed To Welfare Of Medical Professionals – Banigo

The Rivers State Government says the welfare of its medical professionals is of utmost priority.

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr.(Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo stated this during the 26thAnnual meeting and Scientific conference of Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Nigeria(ORLSON) in Port Harcourt on Thursday, 15th November, 2018.

According to the Deputy Governor, there has been a mass exodus of medical professionals out of Nigeria in search of greener pastures, stressing that all hands must be on deck to do whatever it takes to reverse this ugly trend.

Dr. Banigo said the State Government on its part would continue to provide the needed favourable environment for medical professionals to perform optimally.

The Deputy Governor noted that in Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike’s commitment to fast track health education and health entrepreneurship necessitated the decision to commission a Medical College in the Rivers State University during the commemoration of the 3rd anniversary of his Administration.

She said the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital was also upgraded, renovated and re-engineered to serve as a Teaching Hospital for the Medical College of the Rivers State University Dr. Banigo while commending ORLSON for choosing Port Harcourt to host the Conference, 13 years after the city hosted it last, said Rivers State would continue to remain safe and serene.

The Theme for the Conference is Man-Power Development for Oto=Rhino-Laryngology practice in Nigeria: time for sub specialist Training. While the Sub Theme is Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation in Nigeria, Emerging Infections In Oto-Rhino-Laryngology.

It would be recalled that the Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Nigeria (ORLSON) is a group of Ear Nose and Throat Surgeons in Nigeria.
