Magistrate Court Adjourns To June 16 Trial Of Teenagers Accused Of Sexually Abusing Two-Year-Olds

Chief Magistrate Poromon presiding over Chief Magistrate Court 13 in Port Harcourt magisterial district has adjourned to June 16,2022 for continuation of trial of male teenagers aged 15 and 17 years respectively accused of sexually abusing twins(boy and girl) aged two years.

The trial of the two teenagers aged 15 and 17 years as sighted by our reporter in the charge sheet, PMC /771C/2022 accused of sexually assaulting twin children (boy and girl) aged two years continued at Chief Magistrate Court 13 presided over by Chief Magistrate Menenen Poromon last week Thursday after their arraignment.

State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) had arraigned the 15-year-old male teenager  on charges bordering on unlawful and indecent assault of a two-year-old boy by having carnal knowledge of him through the anus and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 353 of the criminal code, cap.77 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1999 while the 17-year-old male teenager was arraigned on charges bordering on unlawful and sexual abuse of the two-year-old girl by inserting his finger into her vagina and defiled her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 32 (1)(2) Child Right Act Cap.50 Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2003.

The continuation of the trial last week Thursday was held indoors with only the teenagers, the twin children, their mother and lawyers for the accused and complainant in the closed door sitting at the Chambers of the Chief Magistrate owing to the fact that it was a juvenile court.
