Police Confirm Recovery Of Vehicle Of Suspected Kidnap Victim

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of a Toyota Camry car believed to belong to a kidnap victim who was whisked away by gunmen in military uniform through Elechi beach waterfront, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt last week Thursday and abandoned the vehicle of the victim there.

The acting Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed to our correspondent that the Police had recovered the vehicle and investigation had commenced into the incident.

We gathered that personnel of Octopus Strike Force Police tactical unit last week Thursday evening recovered the Toyota Camry car and towed the car to their office.

Eyewitness account revealed that the gunmen drove the Toyota Camry and also a Sienna car where the victim, an unknown aged man, was being conveyed.

Our source disclosed that minutes before arrival of the gunmen who drove the two vehicles, some gunmen who dressed in military uniform were patrolling the Elechi beach waterfront intermittently.

The eyewitness stated that the gunmen who drove the vehicles started shooting sporadically when the kidnapped victim raised alarm as he was brought out of the Sienna car and calling for help  while the gunmen were dragging him towards the waterfront.

The source explained that nobody could help the kidnapped victim as everybody scampered for safety due to the sporadic shooting by the gunmen.

We learnt that the gunmen succeeded in putting their victim into the waiting speedboat driven by their colleagues who were in military uniform and sped off while one of the gunmen went away with the Sienna car and left the Toyota Camry vehicle believed to be owned by their victim.

Our reporter who visited the scene last week Thursday saw men of Octopus Strike Force Police tactical unit patrolling the area but no arrest had been made as at press time.
