I Withdrew From Rivers PDP Governorship Primary In Interest Of Party – Obuah
…Thanks Supporters For Their Faithfulness
Bro Felix Obuah, immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State and strong contender for the State Governorship Primary election has explained why he later backed out of the governorship race shortly before the election.
Bro Obuah said he did so in the interest of the party as a peace maker and loyal party man.
According to the former PDP boss under whose leadership the PDP won the governorship election in the state back-to-back in 2015 and 2019 respectively, the decision of the party is supreme and as a leader, once the party has taken a position on any issue, he considers it binding even if such position is at variance with his personal interest.
The Ogba-born politician and philanthropist of note, said he reasoned that forging ahead with his governorship bid after the party had come out with certain calculations would tantamount to anti-party activity and could jeopardize the chances of victory for the party in the election proper which he would not wish to be part of.
Bro Obuah however, lauded the unrivaled support from his supporters across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state and thanked them for their unmitigated trust.
He enjoined them not to be dismayed as victory for the party is victory for all not minding who is occupying the driver’s seat.
Bro. Obuah further appealed that same support given to him be also extended to the governorship flagbearer of the party, Siminialayi Fubara to ensure that PDP wins the 2023 general election in the state as the best gift to appreciate the quality and people-oriented leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike.
