Oba (Eze Ogba) Is Now Patron Of OTC

The Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland, His Eminence, Oba Nwachuku Obuoha Nnam – Obi III has been officially conferred and decorated as the Life Grand Patron of Omoku Town Club (OTC), the apex social-cultural organization of Omoku people of Rivers State.

The position of OTC Grand Patron which is exclusively reserved only for the Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland became vacant last year following the home call of the immediate past occupant of the revered stool, His Eminence, Sir (Dr.) Chukumela Nnam-Obi II.

Playing host to members of the OTC in his palace at Omoku, the 12th Ogba Monarch used the forum to again admonish the people of Ogba ethnic nationality both at home and in diaspora to always speak with one voice, cultivate the spirit of oneness and eschew negative tendencies that could jeopardize the unity, peace, brotherliness and meaningful development of the oil rich kingdom.

He told his guests that one of his major primary agenda as the Oba (Eze-Ogba) is to ensure that Ogba Kingdom and its people are united, noting that God did not make mistake in the creation of Ogba Ethnic Nationality as one kingdom made up of Omoku, Egi, Igburu and Usomini groups just like other ethnic groups in Nigeria.

The new Ogba monarch disclosed that plans were on for Ogba people to have a common apolitical, social and cultural organization that can speak for the people on critical issues just like the Uzugbani Ekpeye, Ogbakor Ikwerre, Movement for Survival of Ogoni people, etc.

He thanked members of the OTC for conferring on him the Life Grand Patron and also commended them for the notable role they played during the burial rites of his late father, their support to him since his coronation in October last year and urged them to keep the flag of the club flying as established by its founding fathers.

Earlier in his address, the director of Omoku the OTC and a former Chairman of Omoku CDC, Barr. Chris Uche Amadike disclosed that members of the club were in the palace to felicitate with him on his peaceful ascension of the Eze Ogba throne, pledging their loyalty and support they introduced their new executive and conferred the Life Grand Patron on him as it has been the tradition of OTC since its inception in 1977 to reserve that position for only Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland.
