Pandemonium As Stray Bullet Hits Goat Meat Seller At Mile 3 Market

There was Pandemonium on Tuesday morning (yesterday) in Mile 3 Market, Port Harcourt, Rivers State as a Goat Meat seller simply identified as Obong who hails from Akwa/Ibom State got hit by a stray bullet.

Obong who was at his stand selling goat meat collapsed after he was hit by the bullet. People within the vicinity scampered for safety as nobody knew where the bullet came from. In the ensuing frenzy, many people were said have sustained different degrees of injury as others lost their money and other valuable items while scampering for safety.

An eyewitness revealed the development disrupted business activities as people were afraid of coming back to the particular area where the incident took place.

Eyewitness account told this publication that the bullet hit the goat meat seller on the waist and blood was gushing out of his body before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. According to the eyewitness, a close examination of the bullet which was pulled out from the body of Obong indicated that it was a 16mm bullet.

However, the victim had been taken to the hospital before the arrival of National Network reporter.

Confirming the incident to our reporter, Mr Nelson Tasie the Vice Chairman of Goat Meat Sellers Association, Bishop Okoye Line said “we are still in shock over the incident”. He explained that they were yet to know where the bullet had come from or the person that shot the gun.

He expressed the fear that members of the Association are now living in fear of the unknown since the incident took place. As at the time of filing this report, the victim was still at the hospital receiving treatment.
