Tension In Diobu As Cult Groups Battle For Supremacy
There has been palpable tension in Mile 2, Diobu for over four days following clashes between suspected Deygbam and Dewell cult groups over supremacy.
We gathered that fighting ensued when a suspected Dewell cult leader last week Thursday injured a suspected Deygbam cultist and forcefully collected his money at Ikoku fly over.
A source revealed that the injured Deygbam cultist mobilized his colleagues and went in search of their rival at Adelabu street, Mile 11 Diobu, Port Harcourt where they were about setting ablaze a red Toyota car they assumed to be owned by their target who fled before intervention of traders on the street who pleaded with them that the car did not belong to their target.
The battle continued as the rampaging cultists invaded Abel Jumbo and Emole streets, Mile 11 Diobu, robbing passersby and destroyed two car ‘dumps’ on the two streets.
An eyewitness also said suspected cultists with guns and dangerous weapons were on rampage at areas like Wokoma Street/Ikwerre road, Ojiegbu streets on Monday.
We gathered that no casualty has been recorded but some persons including passersby and suspected cultists have sustained different degree of injuries.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command DSP Grace Iringe Koko was yet to respond to text messages sent to her line.
Recall that the Police arrested 24 suspects over cult clash between two groups in Diobu last month which resulted in the death of one person with several others Injured.
