The calm and relative peace in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State was disrupted early hours of Monday, July 4, 2022 by suspected cultists.
This signaled the regrouping of undesirable elements in some communities notably the Ogbo Community of Ahoada East LGA, three years after the traditional institution led some cultists who surrendered their arms to security agencies.
For over hours early Monday morning, the cultists suspected to be members of rival Iceland and greenland members engaged in a crossfire forcing the villagers to remain indoors for hours. The incident reportedly claimed three lives.
A similarly incident was also reported to have claimed two lives in Odiemerenyi community barely a week before the Ogbo Community attack.
