Oparankwa Community Celebrates Illustrious Sons
…Inaugurates New Executive
Oparankwa autonomous community in Rumuwedegele, Elikpokwuodu in Rukpokwu clan last week rolled out the drums to celebrate two of their illustrious sons, Hon. Prince Sunny Opara and Chituru Opara who were elevated to top positions in the community.
While Hon. Sunny Opara was crowned the number one Elder in Oparankwa as well as Rumuwedegele Elikpokwuodu, Chituru Opara was made the chief of Oparankwa community.
Oparankwa community is made up of two families, Opurum and Rumu-Eme both of which have their family heads.
At the event, the community elders and leaders spoke glowingly of their illustrious sons.
Elder Vincent A. Opara (JP) said Hon. Prince Sunny Opara was crowned the number one elder because of his track records of achievements, stressing that he deserved the honour.
According to him, Elder Sunny Opara had what it takes to move Oparankwa and Rumuwedegele forward. He also praised Chief Chituru Opara, describing him as a peacemaker who would bring peace to the community.
Elder Friday Opara, the number two elder in the community, Austin O. Opara chairman of Opurum family and Engr. Emmanuel Opara – Chairman Rumu-Eme family extolled the virtues of Elder Sunny Opara and Chief Chituru Opara and urged them to continue to work for peace and development of Oparankwa Community.
Elder Hon. Prince Sunny Opara the number One Elder thanked the community leaders and youths for the honour done him, saying he will work for peace and progress of Oparankwa, Rumuwedegele, Elikpokwuodu and Rukpokwu at large.
He told journalists that he was so happy with the top position conferred on him which was why he donated one goat to support Chief Chituru Opara for the celebration.
The new chief of Oparankwa community, Chief Chituru Opara said he would make sure that there was peace, stressing that he would reconcile all aggrieved members and bring them together for peace and progress of the community.
The highpoint of the celebration was the inauguration of the new executive of Oparankwa Community led by Comrade Opara Stephen as chairman.
Others elected to administer the community with him are: Chika Opara – Vice Chairman, Chibuike W. Opara – Secretary, Timothy Opara – Assistant Secretary, Engr. Emmanuel Opara – Treasurer, Chimzi Victor Opara – Financial Secretary, Emmanuel I. Opara – PRO, Chikwe Opara – Provost I and Bekweru Opara – Provost II.
In his post inauguration speech the chairman, Comrade Opara Stephen said he would carry everybody along in his administration, settle issues/quarrels, work for peace, listen and take advice of elders and look for how to create jobs for the youths.
He asked for co-operation of the community leaders and youths to enable him succeed in his administration.
