Police Wade Into Ahoada Community Crisis, Intensify Search For Suspected Cultists

The Rivers State Police Command says it has launched manhunt for suspected cultists who killed one person and burnt two houses at Abarilpo community in Ahoada East Local Government Area last week.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko, said the crisis is linked to a chieftaincy tussle in the community.

DSP Koko disclosed that the Police have begun Investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending the killers.

This killing comes barely one week after the killing of a suspected cultist aka Baddo in Ogbo community in the Local Government Area.

A native of the area who did not want his name to be in print told our reporter that the leader of the cult group responsible for the attack reportedly warned some stakeholders in the area to desist from granting interview to the press on the incident or face their wrath.

A stakeholder in the community had turned down a request for an interview with Journalists citing threat from suspected cultists that any stakeholder whose name appears in news or voice is heard on media regarding the latest incident will be dealt with.

Suspected members of Greenland and Iceland cult groups have been engaged in territorial control in some communities in Ahoada East Local Government Area for some weeks now.
