…As Monarch Wants Amaechi Cautioned

A traditional ruler in Rivers State, Eze, Sir Mike Elechi has appealed to stakeholders to caution the former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi over what he called Amaechi’s rascal behaviour  against his own people.

Speaking with newsmen over the weekend in Port Harcourt, he warned that enough is enough of the minister’s behaviour “Enough is enough of this abracadabra, enough of this thuggry and unnecessary protest over nothing”.

He made it known that what befell the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) was self-inflicted injury and that they have themselves to blame and nobody else.

The Traditional ruler made it clear that the Supreme Court has made its pronouncement very clear in a layman’s language that APC will not participate in this year’s election till 2013, adding that after now, there are many other election years ahead and not something one will fall the heavens if not included this time around.

Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, Obuah Weze III of Elele kingdom stated that it is only through the ballot boxes that one can ascend to power and that power comes from God, stressing that Amaechi trying to govern the state again through the back door, would be resisted by Rivers people.

“If the APC supporters are relevant, let them mobilize and vote out Governor Wike if they can and not through any other crude method outside the law. Amaechi should stop wasting public funds in an unnecessary venture,” he said.

The Monarch further stated that Amaechi’s actions and utterances are outside the law of the land and that the security agencies are not supposed to encourage him as Nigeria is not a banana republic, adding that Amaechi is under the law and should operate under the ambit of the law”.

Eze Elechi used the opportunity to condemn the introduction of the military in the electoral process, adding that there is a subsisting court order prohibiting the Army from participating in electoral process since 2014 not to talk of getting involved in election manipulation.

The traditional ruler noted that even in his own Ikwerre Local Government Area, the soldiers were actively involved in rigging of election and prevented electoral officers from the collation centres in order for them to turn in their mass thump printed ballot papers to the advantage of the APC adopted candidate encouraged by the Minister for transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.

Eze, Sir Elechi cautioned that whoever is bent on destroying the State should remember first, there is no other state they can call their own and that if for any reason the governorship seat became vacant, it is to the detriment of Rivers people.

“At least we have seen some resemblance of roads and infrastructural development through Governor Wike and after his tenure another person will also continue, as government is continuum, adding that election is not a do-or-die affairs”.

On the way forward for the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Monarch said it is up to him to decide either to follow the Goodluck Jonathan approach and accept the outcome of the election despite the obvious rigging or go to court to prove his point, adding that after all president Muhammadu Buhari aspired to be president three times and failed and that during these periods, Buhari fought his way up to the Supreme Court for redress.
