The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday last Thursday decorated fifty -six Deputy Superintendent of Police,(DSPs) who were promoted to Superintendent of Police(SPs).
Addressing the Officers, CP Eboka said “We are all happy gathered here today to celebrate our officers who have been found worthy by the Police Service Commission. on recommendation of the IGP they were promoted from Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP to Superintendent of Police, SP .Of those promoted recently,56 of them are from Rivers State Police command.
“We are happy that whenever good things happen in the force Rivers State always partake and is not forgotten. when Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba took over mentioned he was going to fight welfare of his officers and men and this is doing.
“Since I was posted to Rivers State, as Commissioner of Police, about three Deputy Commissioners of Police have been promoted to rank of Commissioners of Police and redeployed. Others have also been promoted from one rank to another.
“We are indeed grateful to the IGP for his magnanimity and making sure he puts smiles on our faces.We must let you know that why we are celebrating you, that to whom much is given much is expected.
“I want to let you know that SPs who are doing well we still find themselves as Divisional Police Officers, DPOs because most of them are young and can deliver more than those who are no longer agile.
“I want to express gratitude to God for giving you the health to reach this rank. Is not all your course mate who started with you are here to celebrate the promotion of rank. Some were dismissed, some dropped and some have gone to the world beyond .
“It is one thing to have a new rank is another thing to maintain the rank you have ascertained. If you do not maintain it, we will not hesitate to withdraw the rank from you”.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday also presented Loveth Patra Ekufu woman DSP who won the world professional mixed martial arts /Kick boxer competition to management team of the command.
The Commissioner of Police said he is proud that she is serving in Rivers State Police command.
CP Eboka also commended DSP Patra for making the command, Nigeria Police force and the country proud .
CP Eboka urged her to continue to make the force and the country proud.
CP Eboka disclosed that the command has been encouraged by the IGP that officers and men should involve in sports not just for award but for fitness and good health.
Grace Iringe Koko, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police command who was decorated with the rank of Superintendent of Police, SP thanked God for the elevation in rank. She also thanked the Police service Commission and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba for finding them worthy of the promotion.
SP Koko also thanked CP Eboka Friday for making out time despite his right schedule to decorate them today.
SP Koko said the promotees we work hard as the new rank calls for service and responsibility.
