Rivers Community Expects New Dawn

…As It Celebrates New King

The peoples of Omuoda in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State have celebrated their new Paramount Ruler/Nyenweali, HRH Eze Gabriel Wamadi Okparibea in a big way with great expectation of a new development.

The event which took place over the weekend in the community witnesseds important personalities from all walks of life in attendance.

The Paramount Ruler whose chieftaincy title is “Aka Kpuchie-Owa” (the hands cannot cover the moon) in his welcome address promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him in the discharge of his responsibility. According to him “I will not only provide good leadership but serve as a rallying point for the collective aspiration of my people”.

He recalled that his eventual coronation for the throne has been tedious and herculean but thanked God for making the day a reality hence it is nicknamed a “Divine Coronation”. He however, promised to carry all segments of the society along in the scheme of things. The monarch equally appealed to all of them, the chief and elders, the women and the youths to cooperate with him to move the community forward. He maintained that the staff of office which was handed over to him on July, 18, 2022 is a symbol of a new dawn for the development of the community, adding that with his Christian background, no one will be oppressed or cheated under his reign. The 82year old monarch promised to leave a good legacy for the community.

Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Charles Wali thanked the Omuoda people for peacefully selecting and crowning their king. He equally thanked God for the clement weather which he noted, signified the divine approval of the event and appealed to the new king to rule his people with the fear of God.

In his exaltation, the leader of Omuoda Pastors Forum, Pastor Michael Enoch quoting from the Holy Book urged the new king to always work with God as according to him, the people rejoice when the righteous rules. (Luke 12:29). He also enjoined the Paramount Ruler to be diligent in his duties and strive to meet the peoples expectation, adding that to whom much is given, much is equally expected from him. He however appealed for the peoples loyalty and cooperation for him to make a mark.

One of the special guests of honour and the Paramount Ruler of Nsulu Ancient Kingdom in Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, HRM Eze Patrick Anogwa in his goodwill message said the responsibility the celebrant is being handed over is not a mean one but would be made easy by his followers, hence he should carry everybody along in his administration.

The visiting monarch who is also an in-law to the royal family therefore used the opportunity to advise him to run an all inclusive administration if he must succeed and wish him well.

The Community Development Chairman (CDC) of Omuoda, Mr. John Obunezi in his goodwill message promised that the community will indeed witness a new dawn as those in charge are tested and trusted patriotic citizens who have the fear of God and are determined to make a difference.

In his remarks, the Ogbakor Aluu chairman, Barr. Stanley Orji while thanking God for the opportunity of peacefully selecting and crowning a successor to the throne, appealed for cooperation for the new king to succeed. He equally appealed to the people to give their maximum support to the king and wait for their own turn as according to him “everybody cannot be on the seat at the same time”. He equally used the opportunity to congratulate the new king on behalf of his group for peacefully ascending his father’s throne.

Chief Christopher Amadi who spoke on behalf of the Aluu chiefs and elders stated that the support and advice of the king’s subordinates is important at all times.

He also appealed to the people of Omuoda not to abandon or betray their king in course of his reign as according to him the task is a collective responsibility.

He equally advised the new king to always stand by the truth and judge rightly.

The Omuoda Paramount Ruler, his family members and cabinet members later went for a thanksgiving service at the Narrow Gate Bible Church, Aluu where he worships.

Highlights of the event were cutting of the royal cake by the king and his family as well as a royal dance by the cabinet members with their king.

In a press interview with the newsmen, the Community Development Chairman (CDC), Mr. John Obunezi said his new administration and fresh king have a lot of plans for the Omuoda people, promising to take the community to a greater height.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the local and state governments to provide a general hospital, good motorable roads, schools and markets for them to make life easier for them.

He however disclosed that through their communal efforts the community have been able to provide electricity and borehole water for themselves.

“Security too is no challenge to us as we have internal arrangement, together with that of the Nigeria Police Force,” he stated.

He promised to actualize his vision within his tenure which he noted is ensuring that his youths are made responsible by sending to schools those for further study or good skill acquisition, adding that the major challenge they have in their community is addiction of their youths to drugs which he noted, has caused  a lot of damages for them.

The CDC chairman however said the major thrust of his administration is the maintenance of peace which will eventually usher in development in their community.
